By the ford

"Hey there!" Musca called and raised her hand greeting the stranger on the other side of the ford. At first she could barely make out his silhoutte in the bright light, but the picture grew clearer as he waved back; maybe a cloud had passed the sun.
"Who are you? What are you?" Even as she blurted it out she wondered whether she was being impolite, but then again his face markings - and the clothes he was wearing in the glaring heat - begged the question.
"I'm Jero," he replied, carefully avoiding to give out too much information.

For 's mini challenge. Both Musca and Jero like to go exploring and I think they would get along well; maybe they'll share a lunch and some stories before they go adventuring on.

I was actually quite happy with the colours although a lot of that got lost in translation to digital :/
